Find the IP address and location of the sender in yahoo mail
In my last tutorial I discussed about finding the IP address and location of the sender in Gmail. Those who missed it please read it first because it contains some basic information about the email headers. Our basic strategy is to find the IP address from the email headers. So the only question is that how can we access full email header in yahoo mail. Well, here’s the step by step answer to the question
Step 1. Login to Gmail using your id and password.
Step 2. Open the mail of the sender whose IP you want to determine.
Step 3. Click on Compact Header/Standard Header button(see picture below). Select Full Header from the drop down menu.
Note for yahoo mail classic users - Yahoo mail classic users just click on the headers above the email text. If you can’t find headers above the mail then you need to first enable them using the following procedure-:
* Click on Options link on the top-right corner.
* The Mail Options page will be displayed. Click on General Preferences.
* Scroll down to Messages and select the Show all headers on incoming messages.
* Save the changes. Now start again from step 1.
Step4. A new window will open with the complete header in it. We have to find the IP address of the sender. So now look for Received:from followed by the IP address within square brackets [ ] e.g. Received: from sachin.i-tendulkar.com (sachin.i-tendulkar.com [62.96.56.51]).This(62.96.56.51) is the IP address of the sender.
Step 5. Sometimes while looking in the email header, you will notice that there are many Received: from entries. If this is the case then the last such entry should be considered as the IP of the sender.
That’s it.
Now, to find the location of the person from the IP address, visit http://apps.hackingtuts.com, and use my live application, Get Location from IP with Google Map.
If you know any other method to get IP of sender or a way to find the IP of senders who are using gmail then please do share it with me using comments. And please comment how do you find this post and what topics you’ll like to read in my future articles, security related or tips, tricks and hacks.
